Photographing a birth is always an amazing, unforgettable experience. Witnessing the first moments of someone’s life. A couple becoming parents or a family growing has to be one of my favorite things. There are no words for that kind of joy.. at least not any that I can think of.. I’m a photographer not a writer.. clearly…
Now this birth story was extra special. Not only is Mama to be Erin a ridiculously talented birth photographer herself (no pressure there right) but she is also one of my closest friends.
As amazing as it is to watch a baby enter the world, watching the baby who you have talked about countless times with your friend whose belly you have watched grow and the friend who you have shared laughter and tears and all kinds of other emotional stuff with just heightens that feeling of love.
I am so honored that I was there to watch sweet miss Veda enter the world.
Erin called me at the end of a session I was at to tell me she was thinking it’s baby time. I wrapped things up, ran home quickly emptied my memory cards, grabbed some fresh batteries and took a quick shower and ran over to the hospital that is about five minutes from my house (how convenient is that).
We hung out and chatted a bit while watching the summer Olympics then after a few hours it was epidural time… the whole night flew by, before I knew it she was dilated to a ten and it was push time! Now I have seen some births… even had a few myself but I have never seen a baby be born as fast as miss Veda.. In just two pushes she was here… and she is one of the most beautiful, sweet precious little things I have ever seen in my life.
I ran home around 3:15am for a few hours of sleep then came back in the morning to watch big sister Bryn meet the new baby.
I eagerly look forward to every time I see her sweet little face. As much as I would love for her to stay a little bitty baby with fuzzy duck down hair I cannot wait to watch her grow and play together with her sister and my girls.
Thank you so much Erin for inviting me to be part of Veda’s birthday.
xoxoxoxoxox times a million,
Sarah
