Girls Room: New Year New Look

I decided Saturday morning that the big girls room was looking pretty awful. The bunk beds weren’t working for us really anymore and every place to put anything was just overflowing with “STUFF” I am not sure if it’s the same way for all parents but my girls LOOOOOVE collecting little things and then over time it just ends up taking over. In retrospect I should have probably taken a “before” picture had I expected anyone to notice the huge change here!

I didn’t really spend any money redoing the room. $20 for a couple of bigger maps for the wall above their head. The beds my Mom generously gave us. A score she got on craigslist awhile back. They work PERFECT for the girls. The quilts I made (using my very favorite’s from Heather Ross fabrics along with some fun Japanese import fairytale fabrics I have been collecting) and various decorations (aside from a couple of pillows I received as gifts and from swaps (FOR ME) that my girls have decided they “needed” in their room) I also made. The sweet “owl and pussy cat” embroidery pattern can be found here. The handmade cats in the baby crib are made from recycled sweaters using Denyse Schmidt’s pattern.   I had a great time discovering little collections of things the girls had all over the place and putting them together to be enjoyed. The room could use a few new pieces. A better night stand for between the beds and I am possibly going to paint the other dressers so they are all white… I am not sure on that yet. But all in all the room feels warm and cozy and just perfect for a 8 &11 year old Winking smile
