Chilly winter Portland air, hot chocolate, elephant ears covered in cinnamony goodness.. Zoolights at the Oregon Zoo. A tradition for so many pacific northwest families like ours. We haven’t missed a zoolights in at least thirteen years since Iris was a baby. There is something I love so much about going to the same place year after year, seeing what is different, what’s the same and how different our family experiences it each time we go.
Thankfully this year we went on a clear evening. We have been in rain and snow when the girls were younger.. this time.. no strollers, no rain gear.. not too cold… early in the season so it wasn’t very crowded. We really had a great time.
I often get asked by my photography clients, friends and family what my favorite kind of photography is. I love so many things about so many kinds of sessions and photographing nature.. really just about anything.. but I have to say that my absolute favorite are spending time with families doing something they love.. dressed as is, playful, natural, real.
I know for me these are the images that tear at my heart strings. These are the images that will mean so much when my little girls are no longer little.
lots of love…
